A rainbow sparked a weather inquiry
Today, during our outdoor play, we saw a rainbow in the sky!
We wondered:
- Where do rainbows come from?
Our ideas about rainbows:
- -
“Rainbows come from the sun”
- -
“A rainbow comes out when it is raining”
- -
“A fairy paints the sky”
- "Rainbows come from the clouds"
The Plan
We decided
that we need to learn about the weather to find out more about rainbows.
We
wonder:
-Where do rainbows come from?
-What type of weather do we need to have
a rainbow in the sky?
-Do rainbows come out in the summer and
winter?
-Can we make a rainbow?
-How do we know if a rainbow will come?
Our investigation
We
explored materials at the science
centre. We found ways to make rainbows!
Our investigation
"The sun shines into the prism and then we see a rainbow"
"We can make a rainbow with a CD"
Our rainbow inquiry sparked a new idea for our dramatic play centre!
We wondered:
-What do we need at a weather station?
-What do we need at a weather station?
-What type of weather can we report?
-How can we show weather that is
coming?
